Happy Halloween week, Naperville! The air’s crisp, the leaves are glowing, and every corner of town seems to have a pumpkin smiling back. 📰 The Digest

💵 They say two things are certain, death and taxes. The latter at least, may increase a bit for local Naperville drive-thru food service businesses. The city’s seen an expansion of drive-thru only businesses like 7 Brew and Scooter’s coffee in recent years. If the city’s consideration moves forward, a 1% tax would be applied that was first deployed for traditional brick and mortar shops in 2004. More on that here.

🏈 What. A. Game. Naperville North pulled off a heart-stopping 21–15 victory over rival Naperville Central in this year’s Wes Spencer Crosstown Classic. After trading scores all night, the Huskies found themselves trailing late. That is, until quarterback Dante Colasante and running back Will Eloe turned up the magic. Eloe punched in the game winner with just 11 seconds left on the clock, sealing North’s fourth straight win and another trip to the IHSA playoffs.

🏘️ More construction incoming. The Naperville City Council has approved plans for The Residences at Naper & Plank, a new 90-unit rental development from Lincoln Property Company. The project will feature townhomes and row houses ranging from 1,550 to 1,950 square feet. Construction is set to begin later this year, with the first homes available for lease in early 2026.
